Dear New Member,

                Welcome to the Blacktown Chapter of the Harley Owners Group. This introductory letter explains a little about the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and our local HOG Chapter, Blacktown.

What is the Harley Owners Group (HOG) all about and in particular, the Blacktown Chapter? It’s where people like you come together to share their common interest in Harley-Davidson motorcycles, “to Ride and Have Fun”. HOG is a non-profit, non-political, family orientated motorcycle organisation, which was set up by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 1983. The Motor Company supports local Chapters throughout the world (there are about 45 Chapters in Australia) and all follow the same “Charter for Chapters” guidelines, with the aim to have safe, fun riding experiences on our Harley-Davidson motorcycles, in a friendly family environment.

All Chapters need to be sponsored by a Harley-Davidson dealer, for our Chapter that dealer is “Blacktown Harley-Davidson and Buell”, at 70 Sunnyholt Rd., Blacktown. The Blacktown Chapter was formed in Sept. 1992, with Ron Franolich as the founding Director. There have been four previous Directors of BHOG, Ron Franolich (1992-95), Roger Sant (1995-2000), Glenn Petersen (2000-03) and Peter Mennell (2003-2009).

Our Chapter has many events planned throughout the year, in which all members and their families are welcome to attend. There is at least one official organised ride a month that could be a Sunday day ride or a weekend overnight ride. There is also an informal ride leaving Blacktown Harley-Davidson at 10am, most Saturdays. We have our Chapter meetings on the first Wednesday of each month, at 7.00pm, at the Fox Hills Golf Club, 55 Fox Hills Crescent, Prospect.

To help new members feel part of the big HOG family we have a New Members Ride once a month. In addition to this, we have several social events during the year, as well as rides to State and National HOG Rallies. Our Chapter also supports MDA and the Dalmeny Retirement Village, in Narooma. All Chapter events, reports and general information are provided to members via a monthly newsletter (which members can receive via post or email) and Chapter website, to which all members are encouraged to submit articles. That, briefly, is what Blacktown HOG is all about, riding our Harley-Davidson’s and having fun whilst doing it. As Director of Blacktown HOG (BHOG) and on behalf of all other Blacktown HOG members, I welcome you to our Chapter.
